Advancements in orthodontics has come on two primary fronts.

1. Esthetics, in this area braces have become smaller. They are clear and will remain clear throughout treatment. They even come in 12K gold plated!!

Now unlike traditional metal braces, you won't have to worry about flashing a "tin grin" every time you smile. These attractive translucent appearance brackets won't stain or discolor. They'll look as good the day they come off as the day you had them put on.

2. Metalurgy (the science of metal properties).
Orthodontic wire which does the real work in aligning teeth, has recently had major advancements. Wire, when tied into the orthodontic brackets applies forces to the teeth that results in tooth movement. Now, new metal compound wires (copper-nitinal alloys) apply constant force over longer periods of time. This force application reduces not only the number of visits but also the overall length of time in braces.
